WRITER'S MEME: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of the top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

This is difficult for me since some of my WIPS aren't posted here, but I am proud of them and love them.  I should limit myself to finished fics, but I won't. LOL  Some of these aren't on my LJ yet, so there will be links to my ff.net account.

1.  The Art of War.  This is a Star Wars: Rogue Squadron story that wrote awhile ago.  It started out as a way to keep myself from going insane while bored at work, then one character, Jolyn, grabbed me by the throat and said "You WILL WRITE THIS!"  After that, there was no stopping it.  I'm especially proud of it because I created an OFC that is a different species and spent a lot of time thinking about how Human and Bothans would interact together.  Also, Bothans are not a well-liked species in SW so writing about one basically meant no one read the story.  But I did it anyway, despite my friends and my own prejudices.

2.  I Wanna Be a Rockstar.  This one isn't deep or profound.  If you don't have intimate knowledge of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron, you probably don't have a clue what's going on.  But it was FUN to write.  I was giggling through the whole process.  It's the closest I've ever come to writing crack.

3.  The Darkest Hour of the Night.  Again, a SW fic.  This one I call my total mind f**k story.  Not because of any twists and turns, but because it seriously messed with my mind when I wrote it.  It's my first attempt at dark and disturbing and I sat up all night writing it from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m.   It all started with a discussion on a SW fic board about domestic abuse.  And someone made a comment that sort of reinforced stereotypes about abuse.  It struck a nerve and thoughts began swirling in my head until they HAD to get out.  This fic was the result.  It's creepy, it's dark, and it's disturbing.  It has character death.  I never thought I'd write something like this but I'm proud I did.

4.  Introspection.  My first finished Smallville fic.  I'm sure I drove everyone crazy with this one.  I worried over it more than any fic I've ever posted.  I think that's because my friends are such amazing SV writers that I was afraid to put my story out where they could read it.  danceswithgary pushed me so it went from being an ok story to one I'm proud of.  Though it isn't the story that I planned for that challenge.

5.  I'm going to save #5 for the fic that I haven't posted yet, the WIPs that I'm fighting and giggling with.  I know it's kind of a cop out answer, but I'm seriously loving some of the fics that I'm working on now and I can't bring myself to list one that I don't have that sort of emotional attachment to.

BTW, hils, thanks for tagging me for this.  I realized that some of my fics look terrible on my LJ and some aren't even listed on my "completed list" post.  Looks like I'll be doing some archiving on my LJ soon!

1.  Whisper a Prayer for the Dying by David Coverdale and Jimmy Page.  My Muses love this song.  I don't know why but they squee! whenever it comes on my Winamp.  It makes the writing happy.

2.  Love Reign O'er Me by the Who.  The music in the beginning is so pretty with the sound of falling rain.  And it's thoughtful sounding and a bit sad without being meloncholy.

3.  Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) by Jimi Hendrix.  First reason, it's Jimi Hendrix!  Second I've always love the guitar work in this.  It's been a favorite on my MP3 list for years and I never get tired of it.

4.  Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones. This song makes me bounce.  I just can't seem to sit still when I listen to it.  

5.  Just Like You Imagined by Nine Inch Nails.  I'm so not a NIN fan but Jay let me borrow some of his music and it gets me in a good writing mood.  It's got a great feel for moody stuff or action. 

6.  Burning Bright by Shinedown.  I love Shinedown.  I normally don't listen to stuff that's new stuff, prefering old rock but for some reason I love them.

7.  Ordinary by Train.  The lyrics really work for me.  Even if it is from Spiderman  2 (grumbles)   I don't listen to it much while writing but it usually ends up on my relaxing mix. 

I just had to use this since I got Wedge and a toothbrush! I'm having Yahoo chat room flashbacks!
