Overall, I'm happing with writing.  I love writing fan fic, even when it's frustrating and I'm cursing my Muses.  But what about original fic?  This weekend, I saw all these people doing the things they love, whether it was drawing or writing, and realized I wanted to do that.  Overall, I'm happy with my life, but I want that.  I want to do something I love for a living, or at least try it out and see if it's how I want to spend my life.  In the end, I might prefer fan fic, but I want to try.

So now the question...

How do you find your writing voice/niche?  I kind of stumbled onto the type of fan fic I wanted to write, but original stuff?  I have no idea where to start.  Does anyone have any ideas or advice?  It can be from original fic writing or fan fic writing.  I'm curious how you find the right stories for you to write.
